Luxury Goods and Luxury Life


Luxury life, what is it? Something inessential but conducive to pleasure and comfort? or something expensive and hard to obtain? If you want to live such life, it means at least you requirement be one of the richest.

Luxury goods didn’t fade away in the economic crisis, it grows fast instead, especially in China. The market for luxury goods in China is very substantial, and comprises a significant proportion of all luxury goods sales worldwide. As of 2010, China is the world’s second largest consumer market for luxury goods, next only to Japan, and having surpassed the United States in 2009.

The top luxury brands in China

Cosmetics, perfumes and personal care: Chanel, Lancôme, Dior.

Watches: Rolex, Omega, Cartier.

Suitcases and handbags: Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Chanel.

Womenswear: Chanel, Burberry, Giorgio Armani.

Menswear: Giorgio Armani, Ermenegildo Zegna, Versace.

Jewelry: Cartier, Tiffany and Co.

Shoes: Prada, Chanel.

According to a blue paper on commercial development in China, China’s luxury goods market had increased to US$9.4 billion by the end of 2009. This accounted for 27.5% of the world’s luxury goods market, an increase from 25% in 2008. On current growth rates, the luxury goods market in China is expected to grow to US$14.6 billion by 2014, which would likely surpass Japan to make it the world’s largest. Even the top customized skin care brand in New York — VII CODE, show their interests to marketing to China.

Then what is “simple” life and what is “luxury” life?

Simple – not complicated or involved, easy to do, solve, or understand, as a task, question, etc., without additions or qualifications, not luxurious or elegant, pure, unadulterated, without guile or deceit, of low rank or position, humble, lowly, common, ordinary, a person of humble position.

Luxury – the unusual intellectual or emotional pleasure or comfort derived from some specific thing, something producing such pleasure or comfort, and of course, the use and enjoyment of the best and the most costly things that offer the most physical comfort and satisfaction.

Be happy with where you are and then build from there. Enjoy every moment in the journey.
